The Displaced Chef was first established by Chef Matt Salgado in 2013 as a food truck serving fresh Cuban-inspired fare on the go. Quickly growing in popularity with a menu offering a fusion of delicious Latin American street eats, Salgado and his wife Krista Francis opened a permanent Perrysburg location in 2016. The restaurant menu expands on the mouth-watering selections like tacos and platters from the food truck, adding alluring new recipes that include a Key West inspired conch salad and dishes with shredded beef and chicken blended with rice, beans, vegetables and plantains, to name just a few.
This uniquely gratifying blend of Cuban and Latin flavors just makes sense for Chef Salgado. The move from south Florida to Perrysburg 5 years ago inspired the restaurant’s name, but it also allowed Salgado to combine his 25 years of restaurant experience with his love for the cuisine he and Krista grew up with in south Florida. The result: everything from Cuban sandwiches to Cuban coffee, satisfying that craving for authentic Latin American cuisine with a modern, flavorful twist.
